Support Group

Tonight I went to my first weight loss surgery support group. The doctors that I go to hold a support group once a month with tips on being successful on their journey. I was a little nervous at first but it got better as the meeting went on.

There were a lot of people there (about 45) with the majority being gastric bypass or RNY. There were a few bandsters... but we were outnumbered. I liked hearing the experiences that people have had with their weight loss. It's good to get different perspectives and experiences but it's also important to remember that everyone's journey is different.

So far mine has been awesome...and i'm very pleased about that :)

  1. Kristine, My support group is so important to me. Like you, I am far outnumbered by the RNY folks. We usually have 60-70 at a meeting with maybe 10 Lapband folks. I still learn a lot and have formed great friendships with this group over the past 3 years. Best wishes as you are staring your fabulous journey of transforming your life. Tom
